Yuma, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents assigned to Yuma Sector’s Wellton Station located an abandoned truck used in a drug smuggling attempt six miles south of Foothills Boulevard.

About 9 a.m., Wellton Station agents located a red 2008 Ford F-150 truck six miles south of Foothills Boulevard stashed with 98 bundles of marijuana in the cab and bed of the vehicle. Three flat tires disabled the truck bringing the smuggling attempt to halt. The F-150 is believed to have illegally entered the United States 20 miles south of the location where it was discovered.

Records checks showed the truck to have been stolen from the Yuma area in August. It was turned over to the Yuma Police Department.

The 98 bundles of marijuana weighed a total of 1,676 pounds with an estimated value of $1,340,064 and were turned over to the DEA.
