75-Year-Old Fugitive Caught at Detroit Canada Tunnel

Detroit - A 75-year-old Canadian man who escaped from a Milwaukee correctional center was caught on Wednesday, as he attempted to enter the United States at the Detroit Canada Tunnel.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Field Operations officers encountered the 75-year-old Canadian man as he was entering the country on a commuter bus from his hometown of Windsor, ON. When officers conducted an identity check of the man they were alerted to a possible warrant for his arrest issued by the Marshall Sherrer Correctional Center in Milwaukee, Wisc. Officers contacted the facility and received confirmation that the man was wanted for walking away from a local hospital in Milwaukee where he had been taken for treatment while being held at the correctional facility.

The man was turned over to the Detroit Police Department pending his extradition to Wisconsin.
