13 Illegal Immigrants Found Locked In Hemet Home

HEMET, Calif.

More than a dozen illegal immigrants who had been locked in a Riverside County home have been discovered by sheriff's deputies serving an arrest warrant at an adjacent house.

Sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez said Tuesday the 13 men had been crammed into one room. He says it appeared they had just recently arrived from Mexico. They were handed over to the Border Patrol along with two men authorities suspect helped them enter the country.

Gutierrez says deputies arrived at a house in the Homeland area Monday morning to serve an arrest warrant for auto theft when they discovered the people locked in the adjacent house. One person at the other home was arrested for investigation of grand theft auto.
