Activists agree to reschedule immigration rally

LOS ANGELES A group immigration activists in L-A have agreed to make way for the "Golden Dragon" this weekend.

The Golden Dragon Parade, that is.

The Latino Movement U-S-A group had wanted to hold its rally this Saturday.

But L-A's Police Commission denied them a permit because one had already been issued for that day to the Chinese Chamber of Commerce's annual Golden Dragon Parade.

Some activists said their free speech rights were being violated and threatened to go ahead with the rally without a permit.

Police warned they would arrest people if a large crowd gathered without city permission.

Organizers finally agreed to move the event that's expected to draw more than 50-thousand people to April seventh instead.

The L-A-P-D has agreed to that date, but the police commission still has to sign off on the permit.
