UTEP will have a campus-community forum about the border fence from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday in the Union Cinema, Union Building East, First Floor.
University of Texas at El Paso faculty member Josiah Heyman, professor of anthropology, will moderate the forum.

Panelists will include Veronica Escobar, El Paso County Commissioner; Fernando Garcia, director of the Border Network for Human Rights; and Victor Manjarrez Jr., El Paso Sector Chief for the U.S. Border Patrol. A representative from the UTEP Center for Environmental Resource Management has also been invited to join the panel.

"It is of vital importance to our community that we discuss the border fence, also called the border wall, in an open and civil forum," Kathleen Staudt, political science professor and director of the Center for Civic Engagement at UTEP, said in a news release. "Construction will have huge impacts on our economy, environment, and relationships with Mexico."

Each panelist will provide brief remarks, followed by a question-and-answer session.

The program is free. Parking will be available in the UTEP parking garage at Sun Bowl Drive and University Avenue.
