TUSTIN – A local man was taken into custody by federal authorities this morning on several immigration charges – including making false statements to obtain citizenship.
Authorities said the false statements were used to cover up what they suspect are connections with terrorist organizations.
After his arrest, FBI agents and local authorities searched the home of the Tustin man in the 13000 block of Charloma Drive.
The arrest is part of a federal indictment, which was unsealed today.
The man who was taken into custody today is facing several immigration charges, but he is not facing any terrorism-related charges, said Thom Mrozek, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
More information to come.
