    CA Assemblyman Silva votes against giving financial aid to illegals

    SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Jim Silva, R-Huntington Beach, joined Assembly Republicans yesterday in rejecting costly legislation passed by the majority party to grant financial aid to illegal immigrants, saying the measure would cost taxpayers in excess of $2 million annually at a time when the state’s public colleges and universities are already on the budget chopping block.
