SAN YSIDRO: A $3 million project to make the San Ysidro Port of Entry more friendly to pedestrians and bicyclists opened yesterday, nearly a year after most of the work was completed.
The California Department of Transportation announced that fences around a 39-step shortcut stairway, 12-foot-wide bike path and 300-space bicycle parking lot – closed as city of San Diego and state officials worked out a maintenance plan – were finally removed.
“The city will take care of what's on city property, and the state will take care of state property,â€"Distrust and caution are the parents of security."
Benjamin Franklin
