    2 suspected smugglers arrested in boat off coast

    May 27, 2009

    ENCINITAS, Calif. - Authorities arrested two Mexican men on suspicion of smuggling 22 illegal immigrants by boat and dropping them off at a beach in North County.

    San Diego County Sheriff's deputies and Border Patrol agents went to Swami's Beach in Encinitas early Tuesday after receiving reports of people getting off a 30-foot boat. Authorities found 16 men and six women scattered in nearby brush and took them into custody.

    Agents also stopped the boat about five miles west of the coastline and arrested two men for investigation of human smuggling.

    Border Patrol spokesman Jerry Conlin said the people found on the beach were Mexican nationals. They will be processed at a booking center and returned to Mexico.

    this must be the equivalent to Mexican Navy Seal's or Mexican Army Rangers doing an Amphibious landing's on North County beach ...
