College students rally for financial aid for undocumented students

    From our Sacramento Bureau…

College students from across the state, including a few from Orange County, held a rally outside the Capitol today to urge the governor to sign Senate Bill 1, the California Dream Act, which would make illegal immigrants eligible for financial aid.

I spoke with two undocumented immigrants from Orange County who said it’s nightmare trying to pay for college when you’re not eligible for any help.

Jessica De Nova, 21, of Santa Ana, said she has had to move back home with her family in order to continue paying for school. She’s a junior biology major at Long Beach State and dreams of going to medical school. But she’s not sure if she’ll ever make it.

So what of money is tight! What about US citizens who can't afford to go to college and who don't qualify for help? I don't see anyone crying for them. My sister had to work full time and had to take out loans in order to go to school and she didn't have the option of living at home like the one crying about having to move back home. She should be thankful she can even attend our colleges.
