Controversial ICE Raid in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- A number of San Francisco city leaders are up in arms following a recent immigration raid in which a teenage girl was allegedly left home alone. However, immigration officials are disputing that account.
One thing that is for certain is that last Thursday night, Agents with ICE, or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, arrived at a home on Hahn Street in the city's Visitacion Valley district. Inside they found six people, including three who were under federal deportation orders, and three who were found to be in the country illegally. They were all taken into custody.
KCBS’ Mark Seelig Reports
In addition, there was a 15-year-old girl at the home at the time, and her mother was one of those taken into custody. According to reports, the girl was interrogated, and left behind by ice agents, prompting outrage by Supervisors Sophie Maxwell, who represents the Visitacion Valley, and Tom Ammiano.
But ICE spokeswoman Lori Haley the reports can't be true.
"ICE would never knowingly leave a minor unattended," said Haley.
She says they surely didn't do it in this case. Instead, a female San Francisco police sergeant was brought in, and stayed with the girl until family members could arrive to pick her up.
The teenager reportedly told her teachers that immigration officials took all of her family away, prompting Superintendent Carlos Garcia to issue this statement, "I want to assure all of our families that our schools are a safe place for a child to turn for support. We do not ask anyone's legal status."
But Haley stresses that just because someone is a mother, it doesn't mean they are exempt from national law.
"These people are here in the country illegally, and they probably know what the consequences are going to be. People do have access to due process, but if they go to court and they are ordered by a judge to be deported, then they need to comply with those laws," said Haley.

This group is whining that a 15 year old was allegedley left alone, in a house? Was the girl mentally challenged? I know plenty of 15 year old girls who BABYSIT younger children, with no adults around.
Let's not also forget that some cultures consider a 15 year old a grown woman. Remember "Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed"?
This is truly a BS story. They can't have it both ways. American cops NEVER leave minors on their own, it's not our way.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

09-15-2008, 04:41 PM #3Exactly. This girl is old enough to call on the phone, ask for assistance, she's adult enough to handle things. It's not like it was a 2 yr' old left behind. This group is whining that a 15 year old was allegedley left alone, in a house? Was the girl mentally challenged? 09-15-2008, 05:20 PM #5This sounds funny. I'm just trying to picture them flapping their arms up and down.A number of San Francisco city leaders are up in arms following a recent immigration raid in which a teenage girl was allegedly left home alone. However, immigration officials are disputing that account.
ICE disputes this lame story. IMO she made it up to get sympathy. Whats wrong with that 15yr old anyway? Its not like she is being nursed or somthing. She can feed and clothe herself. She is perfectly able to take care of herself if she had to. Besides, in some countries a person that old marries and has children.RIP Butterbean! We miss you and hope you are well in heaven.-- Your ALIPAC friends

09-15-2008, 05:26 PM #6Why weren't they up in arms about the Bologna deaths and sending criminal juveniles to San Bernardino. These people have all of the priorities out of whack. They all need to be run out of office.

The open border nuts only celebrate "multiculturalism" when it suits their agenda, for example other cultures consider 14 years olds to be adults. But of course they ignore that in this case.

Funny...I do not recall many city leaders being "up in arms" when an illegal invader slaughtered three family members in cold blood a few months ago in that city. They were all running for cover, underneith their desks, defending that cities sanctuary policies.A number of San Francisco city leaders are up in arms following a recent immigration raid in which a teenage girl was allegedly left home alone.
