Arizona legislation making it a state crime to be in the United States illegally has reinvigorated the national debate on immigration reform.

The immigration reform debate has been reflected in the campaign for the 45th Congressional District, where Rep. Mary Bono Mack and Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet have argued different strategies for how the government should address the more than 11 million undocumented immigrants nationwide.

The Republican incumbent consistently advocates for stronger border security and pushed for what she calls a “non-amnesty guest worker program to support industries that help drive our economy.â€
