Thread: Healthcare Reform Excludes Illegals

This is an article from Canada and unfortunately you cannot comment on it. In Ontario people are issued health cards which now have your picture on it. Illegals do not qualify. The only way they get free healthcare is with an old stolen card that had no picture on it and that is tough as they expire. I was hoping to comment on the article but they do notb have it for this article. My comment would be that they can always go back home.

FRESNO, Calif. — Paula Medrano shifts uncomfortably on the doctor’s examination table, holding out a wrist inflamed and swollen by arthritis. The 78-year-old has no health insurance, lives below the federal poverty level, and can’t pay for the medication she needs.

Just days before her appointment, President Barack Obama signed, with much fanfare, a historic bill to extend health care access to 32 million currently uninsured people. But Medrano and her daughter, Juana Aguirre, barely paid attention.

Once an undocumented immigrant himself, Ruvalcaba was able to become a citizen and attend medical school because of an amnesty program in 1986. He remains committed to serving all patients, no matter their insurance or immigration status, but there is only so much he can do, he said.



Considering his good fortune, does this doctor ever give back by.....oh, I don't know......ever returning to his home country to provide preventative and other care, free of charge, to those who need it and may not otherwise be compelled to come into this country illegally to get that health care?

Just wondering.......

Probably, these days, the doctor has no need to go to his home country as the entire population is in the U.S.!

No....but thousands of American doctors do it in his place. My dentist just went down to Honduras this last fall to help out. This is something liberals like Nancy Pelosi seem to know little about.

No....but thousands of American doctors do it in his place. My dentist just went down to Honduras this last fall to help out. This is something liberals like Nancy Pelosi seem to know little about.

My dentist actually does some free work for poor Americans.

There must have been a dentist convention in Honduras. Mine went there too.

Yeah, seems like alot of American doctors will go to 3rd world countries to help, but not the ones who came from there...wonder why not?

I could care less if illegal aliens are inconvenienced by not getting health care. Let enough hospitals go bankrupt and maybe the feds will start enforcing the law BY DEPORTING illegal aliens. Enough already!

I think many illegals will probably get healthcare if they are employed on the books with a fake social security number and the employer is required to provide it. The criminal employer should also have to pay for all the illegal's dependents , in my opinion.

Should be interesting. Illegal aliens = cheap labor..BUT paying for all those dependents would make the illegal alien a more expensive employee than an American. What to do? What to do?
