Texas Republicans wary of Bush’s plans for Mexico
Texas Republicans wary of Bush’s plans for Mexico
RICHARD S. DUNHAM and STEWART M. POWELL
WASHINGTON — President Bush’s attempt to win $560 million in aid this year to assist Mexico’s anti-narcotics efforts has run into a rebellion from some Texas Republicans worried about corruption, inefficiency and now defections among Mexican police officials.
Wednesday’s disclosure that three Mexican police chiefs are seeking asylum in the United States prompted the Texans to push Thursday for congressional hearings on the bloody border war among Mexico’s drug cartels and a reassessment of U.S. anti-drug assistance to the country.

I don't trust those Texas politicians no matter what they say. This has been going on for a while, and they haven't really said "boo."

Mexico doesn't need our money, and I don't trust that government. They are as corrupt as the drug cartel. They will just take our money and go about business as usual. This is nonsense for Bush to keep asking us to support a corrupt government. But then again, we keep supporting our own corrupt government, year after year.

They need to spend that money on OUR border patrol. Look what happened to us last time we gave Mexico money to train their people, they now use it against us.

"Support" is one thing, handing Mexico a wad of cash is antoher!
They want support, then Mexico should pay us for training them and for equipment. They don't give us nothing! They have the money, so take it!
