    Border patrol agents caught a convicted rapist trying to illegally enter the United States Wednesday afternoon.

    The 33-year-old man tried to enter the country in the area of First and Encinas street in Calexico about 1:30 p.m., a United States Customs and Border Protection official said.

    The man had previously been sent back to Mexico after serving eight years in prison for the rape incident.
