The Taft man arrested last month on child molestation charges will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 14.

Ernesto Roman was arraigned last week on 2 felony counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child and misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and annoying a child.

He is accused of the sexual molestation of two young children at a Taft Heights home where he was staying as a guest of the family.

Sgt. Martin Downs said the mother of the two victims caught Roman, also known as Ernesto Roman Carderon, while he was molesting the girls.

Roman fled the house and later it was determined he had gone to Fresno.

The Sheriff's Special Operations Group located him and arrested him on Jan. 21, 11 days after he fled.

Bail on the molestation charges is $1 million but Roman is also being held without bail in the Lerdo pretrial facility on a federal immigration hold.
