    Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 7:16 p.m.

RICHMOND, Calif. — Three brothers and two other men face charges after authorities say they seized more than $1 million worth of cocaine in the east San Francisco Bay city of Richmond.

Richmond Police Sgt. Bisa French announced Tuesday that after a yearlong investigation, federal agents and local police arrested Francisco, Jose and Casimiro Cruz on suspicion of drug trafficking charges last week.

Authorities also arrested Jaun Alcazar of Oakland and Edwin Garcia of Los Angeles

During the arrests, French says agents and officers seized more than 20 pounds of cocaine hidden in a car parked in a Richmond neighborhood.

French says all five suspects are being held on a no-bail warrant. It was not known if the suspects had retained attorneys.

Oakland police arrest 14 more in more drug raids

    Tuesday, December 22, 2009
    (12-22) 17:37 PST Oakland, Calif. (AP) --

Oakland police say another 14 drug dealers are off the streets after a second day of raids across the city.

Police spokesman Jeff Thomason says after officers arrested 51 people on warrants Monday, another 14 suspected dealers were arrested Tuesday. Besides the suspects arrested on drug charges, police say another 30 people have been taken into custody on related charges.

Thomason says the arrests come after an eight-month investigation involving undercover officers buying drugs from dealers.

Thomason says some of the suspects arrested will be offered a chance to avoid jail time by joining a local rehab program.
