CA-SENATOR COGDILL DENOUNCES CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATS'
SENATOR COGDILL DENOUNCES CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATS' LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS TO BOYCOTT ARIZONA BUSINESSES
States News Service
June 29, 2010
SACRAMENTO, CA
The following information was released by the California State Senate, Republican Caucus:
Senator Dave Cogdill (R-Modesto) today expressed his strong opposition to Senate Concurrent Resolution 113, by Senator Gil Cedillo (D-Los Angeles). SCR 113 is a non-binding resolution which encourages government and private entities to boycott Arizona private businesses due to the state's immigration policies.
I oppose Senator Cedillo's efforts and fully support Arizona's law to curb illegal immigration by enacting legislation to enforce our current federal immigration laws.
Californians should be highly frustrated that this state's Democrats are wasting time with non-binding resolutions instead of working on the real issues facing our state, like getting more people back to work and fixing our broken budget system.
Sadly, legislation like Arizona's is a symptom of a much larger problem, which is the federal government's absolute failure to act in securing our nation's border.
Instead of having states pass a patchwork of laws aimed at stopping people from illegally crossing our borders, the federal government needs to immediately step up to its responsibility to stop the illegal flow of human trafficking, guns and drugs across our nation's borders immediately.
In fact, according to the Governors office, when California helped the federal government by placing 1000 National Guard troops on the border, illegal crossings reduced by 26 percent.
The federal government can and must act now! Our nation's fragile security depends on it.

Senator Codgill has been sending me literature about his position against illegal immigration for quite a while. People might be surprised at how conservative this area in California is.

I hear 60 percent of the public denounces this BS too.
You cannot dedicate yourself to America unless you become in every
respect and with every purpose of your will thoroughly Americans. You
cannot become thoroughly Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. President Woodrow Wilson
