Smuggler blames Border Patrol for deadly accident

EL CAJON – A convicted immigrant smuggler Friday blamed Border Patrol agents for causing a head-on crash that killed two people, but a judge said he was wrong and sentenced him to prison for 33 years to life.
In a letter read in court by an interpreter, Daniel Cardiola Lopez said the June 2007 crash in rural East County was caused by agents who put a spiked strip in the roadway to stop him.

After the Ramos/Compean mess got coverage, it is easy to blame Americans for everything. And let's see what happens when the Mexican government gets involved. Send him to Texas or wherever the next electrocution takes place. I think it would be cheaper on the prison electrical bill and good for the environment to do a two-fer.

If the Border Patrol were not so eager to catch people who were crossing the border the people who hired Daniel Cardosa Lopez would have just driven down to the border themselves. What Cardosa Lopez is saying to the illegal aliens and the families here who pay for his services is it is rough there but I will take care to handle your relatives safely. Then he is upset because the Border Patrol handled his evasion of their doing their duty roughly.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Smuggler blames border patrol? Guess they're just suppose to wave them on. None of them should have been here in the first place doing what they were doing!!! Amazing!

He also noted Lopez had been stopped by agents many times before for smuggling immigrants and convicted once before.
Stopped by agents many times before for smuggling, but only convicted once? Oh yeah, that's right, back then we had lame ass Carol Lam as U.S. Attorney in San Diego, who had a track record of prosecuting only 4% of all alien smugglers apprehended. That's right, she let 96% of all illegal alien smugglers caught in the act walk free without any charges whatsoever. Gee, I wonder why they would keep repeating their crimes, when they know they have a 96% chance of getting off scot free. Go figure.

    Exactly! I love this:

[quote]El Cajon Superior Court Judge Herbert J. Exarhos said [b]accepting Lopez's version of what happened “would border on the absurd.â€

    The blame game.

That is too funny! The obvious truth is that if the i;legal had not pulled his stunt the accident would not have occured.

That's like the police officer being blamed for chasing a criminal. If that's not what you are supposed to do......then why bother with law enforcement at all?
