Taft Prison Considered For Illegal Immigrants

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- According to prison officials, the federal prison in Taft may soon house only convicted illegal immigrants.

Over the next two years, the Taft Correctional Institution could gradually become a holding center exclusively for convicted inmates who are illegal aliens.

A spokeswoman said that the decision will be made by the U.S. government in April and most private federal prisons could go through the same transition.

Illegal immigrants currently make up 53 percent of Taft prison's population.

If the government chooses Taft, the transition will begin in August.

How about we rennovate Alcatraz and use it for a deporting station? Well it was just a thought.

Sounds good to me! It's like pre-sorting them from the citizen prison population. I hope this will mean when their sentences are up they'll be automatically deported.

It is a shame that we must set special prisons for illegals. We really need to fix our immigration system so that there are no appeals and any illegal caught is sent home immediately or after their sentence is up. No stop, no appeals, no lawyers. Just go home. If they are from china, drop them at the gate.
