LORDSBURG, N.M. — U.S. Border Patrol agents in Lordsburg said Wednesday they seized more than 660 pounds of marijuana worth more than half a million dollars in three incidents near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Agents on horseback and in all-terrain vehicles seized 270 pounds of marijuana Tuesday from two men headed north with backpacks near Cotton City in southwestern New Mexico.

Agent Joe Romero says the two men, who were from Mexico, were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Border Patrol says the estimated value of the drugs is $216,000.

Later Tuesday, agents seized $313,000 worth of marijuana along the border south of Animas.

Romero says one Mexican was arrested, but others dumped the packs containing more than 390 pounds of marijuana and ran across the border to Mexico.
