He avoids speaking on the Mexican migration to United States in his speech, in which he opted for summarizing what has been his first year of government.
BOSTON.– The president of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, indicated Monday that the United States is committing a serious error if it believes that the solution to illegal immigration is to close the borders.
"The American economy is suffering in these moments, but if they believe that the solution is to close the border, they are making a very large mistake '', said the leader in a forum at the University of Harvard.
Calderon indicated that immigration is a reality in which the countries should learn to live together and gave as an example the project of its government with Guatemala to create a "border of opportunity ''.
"The central american workers provide benefits for Mexico and the Mexican workers provide benefits for United States '', Calderon said upon responding after a question from an assistant. Calderon did not speak about the Mexican migration to United States in his speech, in which he opted for summarizing what has been his first year of government.
The president, who spoke in English, said that his government has achieved important advances in the fight against drug trafficking, in the approval of certain reforms in Congress and in stimulating the economy of his country.
"We are establishing the fundamental ingredients for economic growth… approving a tax reform that will permit the federal government to collect more important sums of money and to invest them in more infrastructure and social expenses '', Calderon said.
"Our goal is that Mexico becomes the best country in the world for investments '', he added.
Moments before his speech began, two docen people gathered in front of the building of the university to protest against him.

The president of Mexico met with the Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, to undertake aspects, and according to Mexican sources "both coincided in the importance to promote and to guarantee the respect of the rights of the migrants, as well as to explore areas of opportunity that promote the cultural, social, and economic ties between New York and Mexico".
Calderon recognized the "great effort" carried out by Spitzer to provide the migrant Mexicans access to education, public utilities and healthcare, as well as for guaranteein their labor rights.
In the U.S., the analysts have underlined during the last days that the discretion of Calderon's trip is ment "to avoid any pronouncement regarding the immigration issue, since it could be counterproductive", in a moment in which this country is immersed in full electoral campaign.

He needs to go back and concentrate on his own country and a way to keep his people home and support them instead of making us support them. What do they do for us. They work here, send their money back home t Mexico while we support their poor, diseased, illeterate people. It makes me sick sick sick.

Now, just imagine if the borders were open as he'd like, then hardly any people would be left in Mexico. That would make his job so much easier.
One of the main functions of our federal government is suppose to be to secure it's borders but they fail miserably year after year, on and on it goes. Instead they dabble in areas they shouldn't so it looks like they are doing something. With such weak leaders no wonder Calderon feels he can waltz in here and talk as bold as he does. Ought to make the DC bubble real proud of themselves eh?
On second thought, guess the DC crowd really isn't leading this country, it's who they are beholding to that is.

This is an outrage!
I freed thousands of slaves; I could have freed more if they knew they were slaves.

This guy is nothing more than another crook!
Where is all the money we gave you to help your mexican people?
Where are all the good paying jobs we gave your people?
Where has all the money gone mr. Calderon?
Your are nothing but a crook just like our president. Both of you are nothing but a freaking joke and should be strapped. You and your White Buddy Bush! Now make a racist statement out of that!
You've got the same glasses Bush has on, all you see is green in your pocket, we've known long ago that you don't give a craps ass about your so called people. And the Mexicans I speak to say your a crook and dispise you also. So, don't go thinking your people hold you in high reguard, your corruption has forced them thousands of miles from their homes when they could have been with their families but you wouldn't do the right thing, you wouldn't step up to the plate, you wouldn't live a little less lifestyle so your people might enjoy a little something, where is all $300 to $400 billion dollars your people have sent to Mexico for their families in the last 5 years, We know they spent it, so where is the tax money from all that money gone to? We know where, right in your and your special interest pocket and I'm sure you've probably made a few million of the drug dealing as well. Your no leader thats for sure. The purpose of a leader is to LEAD PEOPLE TO A BETTER WAY OF LIFE by their own hand, not to beg, borrow and steal from others. Anybody can lead someone to crap! Just go back home you criminal!Unless we get those criminals & make them pay for what they have done to our country and the lawlessness they have sponsored, we are just another Mexico ourselves!
