The average remittance sent South by a Mexican immigrant is 15% of income. Most of their income here goes to housing, food and clothing bought here. Most of the remittance money that goes there goes to manufactured food, clothing and housing. Much of what remittance recipients consume could be produced locally or bought from nearby sources but is instead made in Mexico's cities and purchased in supermarkets or stores. Wal-Mex Walmart de Mexico for example depends on remittance money. The more they produce their own food the more they will save the more they purchase goods produced locally the more the communities will have jobs.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
