OKLAHOMA CITY A federal prosecutor says a man has been convicted of smuggling illegal immigrants from Los Angeles to Oklahoma.
Prosecutors in Oklahoma City say Jose Angel Lopez-Lozoya was convicted of eight counts of transporting illegal aliens.

Immigrants testified they arranged for trips to various cities after seeing ads in Spanish-language newspapers in the Los Angeles area and that Lopez-Lozoya and co-defendant Brandy Lee Beverly drove them to jobs in Tulsa, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Louisiana.

Lopez-Lozoya faces up to five years in prison on each count and a 250-thousand dollar fine.

Beverly previously pleaded guilty to another charge and faces up to three years in prison and a 250-thousand-dollar fine.
