Police State Required to End Illegal Alien Crisis?? - HOGWASH

C. H. McMillan
March 29, 2006

Recently, in a nationally reported speech, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton expressed views to the effect that: to deport 11+ million illegal aliens, thought to be in the United States, would not only be inhumane, but would require the creation of a “police state” and further, she felt that American citizens don’t have the stomach for such enforcement.

My opinion, shared by many, is she’s wrong on both counts – DEAD Wrong!! (not that we aren’t dangerously close to being an undeclared police state already)

Every necessary tool is currently present in Federal authority (and this is a Federal responsibility required by the Constitution!). Most are related to the power of the purse, others are covered under applicable criminal statutes and still more are inherent in Federal authority to control the movement of illicitly acquired wealth.

It is illegal to enter this country with out a visa. Enforce it!

It is already a crime to traffic drugs or human contraband. Enforce it!

It is already a crime to drive without a license or liability insurance. Enforce it!

It is already a crime to employ an alien without a valid work permit. Enforce it!

It is already a crime to transfer funds out of the country on which income tax is unpaid. Enforce it!

Extensive Federal leverage is found in the power to withhold grants and other funding to States, or political subdivisions there of, who provide services to illegal aliens or thwart enforcement of the laws above sited. End “sanctuary cities” and States by withholding Homeland Security grant funds to any law enforcement organization that doesn’t, in the course of normal policing activities, detain for deportation any person encountered that can’t produce valid verifiable entry visas. Ridding the country of unauthorized visitors is certainly one of the prime mandates of that Department! End access to education, subsidized housing, food stamps and bi-lingual this and that in the same manner by denying Federal funds to non-cooperating jurisdictions. Prevent banks and money wiring services from transferring funds out of the country with out proof of legal entry status and verifiable current IRS tax law compliance. With these policies in place, “the good ol’ USA”, to which citizens are entitled, becomes a very inhospitable place for unauthorized visitors; as it should be!

Take away the perks, enforce existing law and voluntary out migration of illegals to their country of origin would soon follow.

The measures above take no more to affect than the political will (and courage) to see to the funding and application of existing laws and authorities. But they are the very steps that the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Immigration sidesteped yesterday in approving an amnesty bill and which at least the last three Presidents have neglected to enforce.

As to judging whether American citizens have the stomach for such enforcement measures, Senators only need to refer to poll after poll demonstrating the overwhelming sentiment of American citizens - across all political spectrums, is against amnesty and in favor of enforcement! Voters expect and will accept NO LESS!!! Politicians with elected office ambitions for 2006/2008 - especially the presidency, would do well to consider these statistics as they posture before the voter because all indications are that supporting or promoting any form of amnesty will close the door to future office.

(see: http://www.numbersusa.com/interests/pub ... ml#amnesty -- or -- http://www.americanpatrol.com/POLLS/Polls.html).

Elected representatives and political appointees (from the President on down) need to be reminded now and at the voting booth that they are the temporary custodians of "the Peoples Government", which, we expect to be conducted in the best interests of American Citizens – first last and always!
