Caltrans Suspends Adopt-A-Highway Program
State Sued By Minutemen
POSTED: 10:48 am PDT June 24, 2008
LOS ANGELES -- The California Department of Transportation is suspending its Adopt-A-Highway program several months after an anti-illegal immigration group sued the state agency for discrimination.
The San Diego Minutemen sued Caltrans after it was forced to move its stretch of highway farther from a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint along Interstate 5 in San Diego County.
Caltrans said it is reviewing program guidelines for the 19-year-old litter pickup program.
