Cambridge's foreign-born population grew by 22.8 percent from 1990 to 2000. Below are the number of immigrants living in Cambridge in each of those years and their share of the population. In 2000, one in four residents was from another country, making the total share of immigrants in the city's population is the fifth-largest in the state. The city also has the second highest total number of immigrants in the state, falling behind only Boston.
