SANTA BARBARA, Calif., July 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) President Dr. Diana Hull called for San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom to accept his responsibility in the murder of Anthony, Michael and Matthew Bologna. "Sanctuary for illegal aliens is misguided policy at its most irresponsible, permitting increased crime, drug dealing and now murder on the streets of San Francisco," Hull said.

"Mayor Newsom should immediately rescind the Sanctuary City policy, make an affirmative statement that San Francisco will cooperate with federal immigration authorities and then resign," Hull continued. "Thus far, no one has been disciplined for shielding illegal alien felons from federal authorities.

"California Senator Dianne Feinstein and Senator Barbara Boxer and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi are all residents of the greater San Francisco area. Senator Feinstein was mayor of San Francisco until 1988, right before the initiation of the Sanctuary City policy," Hull said. "Yet nothing has been heard from our two Senators or the House Speaker so far. They have offered no sympathy and no determination to see that an incident like this can never happen again. Mrs. Bologna lost her husband and two sons because of both federal failure to enforce immigration law and San Francisco's sanctuary policy.

"Californians hear constantly from those who represent us in Washington and in Sacramento that immigration is a federal matter. But victims like Mrs. Bologna are clearly not protected from outrages like this triple murder, by any level of government," Hull said.

Wednesday, Edwin Ramos pled not guilty to multiple charges of murdering three members of the Bologna family.

Thursday, Hull faxed letters to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, asking that the federal government cut off all federal law enforcement money to San Francisco until city officials commit to cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

In her letter to Senators Feinstein, Boxer and Speaker Pelosi, Hull wrote: "If local governments will not obey federal law, they should be denied any federal government law enforcement assistance. And, the federal government should prosecute any city officials who fail in that duty. In addition, federal enforcement is spotty and inadequate at best," Hull wrote, "but recently there has been some beginning attempt to apprehend the worst offenders.

"However, every level of government has a long way to go and lags terribly behind public opinion in matters pertaining to enforcement of immigration law," Hull wrote. "This triple murder is the worst kind of tragedy and the outrage it will generate may herald some long overdue comprehension by elected officials about the extent of government failure in these matters, at every level, and what must be done about it."
