Carroll Township Police charge illegal immigrant with DUI
Updated: 03/19/2014 02:35:30 PM EDT
Carroll Township Police charged a 66-year-old man recently in connection with DUI and other crimes, and also discovered he was an illegal immigrant and had been deported, but re-entered the country illegally, according to a news release.
Police said that on March 9, they responded to a crash near the intersection of Williams Grove and York road in Carroll Township. Ruben Rodriguez Garcia, of the 200 block of Rife Road, East Berlin, was driving a vehicle that struck the rear of another vehicle, causing minor damage, police said.
Garcia was charged with DUI, false identification to law enforcement officer and drivers required to be licensed, police said.
He was taken to Central Booking where he gave numerous names to officers, police said. After Garcia's fingerprints were taken and he could be identified, police discovered he was also wanted by Adams County on an outstanding DUI warrant, police said.
Garcia was taken to York County Prison. The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency is assisting police in their investigation.
