Del Rio Sector Agents Seize $1.2 Million in Drugs Over Past Week

Del Rio, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector seized more than $1.2 million worth of drugs over the past week.

The most noteworthy case involved the seizure of 765 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $611,277. Around 9 a.m. on Sept. 2, Brackettville Station agents stopped a 2004 Gray Ford dually truck, loaded with deer feed, north of Brackettville. After stopping the vehicle, the agents discovered several plastic bags containing bundles of marijuana. Both subjects and the marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Aug. 31, agents from the Eagle Pass North Station arrested two Mexican citizens carrying two duffel bags containing 140 pounds of marijuana worth $112,480. The case was turned over to DEA.

Sept. 2, agents from the Eagle Pass North Station discovered two large abandoned backpacks near Eagle Pass. The backpacks contained several bricks of marijuana, weighing a total of 136 pounds estimated to be worth $109,280. The case was turned over to DEA.

Sept. 4, agents from the Carrizo Springs Station encountered two undocumented aliens and four large duffel bags on an area ranch. The duffel bags contained 126 pounds of marijuana worth $101,136. The case was turned over to DEA.

Sept. 4, Eagle Pass South Station agents discovered one abandoned bundle of marijuana on an area ranch. The bundle weighed approximately 18 pounds, with an estimated value of $14,280. The marijuana was turned over to DEA.

Sept. 5, Eagle Pass South Station agents arrested one U.S. citizen smuggling five duffel bags, containing marijuana, near Eagle Pass. The marijuana weighed approximately 250 pounds and is estimated to be worth $199,696. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Sept. 6, Eagle Pass South Station agents encountered three abandoned military style duffel bags filled with marijuana. The approximate weight of the marijuana is 134 pounds, valued at $107,352. The marijuana was turned over to DEA.
