    CBP Officers Arrest 5 Fugitives in 24 Hours Including Homicide Suspect

    (Friday, November 20, 2009)

    San Ysidro — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro port of entry arrested five wanted fugitives in 24 hours, including a man wanted for homicide by the Arvin Police Department in Kern County, Calif.

    Yesterday evening at about 7:45 p.m., 21-year-old Arturo Becerril entered the San Ysidro border station as a pedestrian. The officer developed information that Becerril was wanted and escorted him to the secondary area for further processing.

    Further systems checks revealed that Becerril was the subject of an outstanding warrant for homicide and that he was wanted by the California Department of Corrections for a parole violation.

    Becerril, a U.S. citizen and resident of Lamont, Calif., was arrested was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

    From yesterday at 6 a.m. through 6 a.m. this morning, CBP officers also captured four other U.S. citizens; a 25-year-old female wanted for battery, a 25-year-old female wanted for dangerous drugs, and two males ages 36 and 34 who were wanted on probation violations.

    U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.

    It's so nice to see dumb fugitives just walk up to federal law enforcement officers who have a computer that list every wanted person, outstanding warrant and fingerprints for everyone who has ever been arrested. It's so much cheaper than having to go out and search for them.
