On June 1, a tan 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by a 28-year-old female United States citizen arrived at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge. The lone female presented her U.S. passport to the CBP officer and was referred to secondary for a more thorough examination. In secondary officers discovered approximately 9.50 kilograms (20.94 pounds) of alleged liquid methamphetamine which was concealed within the vehicle’s windshield washer reservoir container. CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle as well.

The adult female traveler was released to the custody of Homeland-Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.

“The attempt to smuggle these hard narcotics was by utilizing an unusual and inconspicuous method and demonstrates the extremes the drug trafficking organizations will reach to try to get their shipments across the border,” said Efrain Solis Jr., Hidalgo Port Director. “Our officers have to be up-to-date with all the different smuggling techniques that are being utilized to be able to keep our communities safe."
