Jacumba, California - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Air and Marine (OAM) and El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents worked together to rescue a distressed illegal alien who had lost his way while making an attempt to illegally enter the United States.

The incident occurred this morning at approximately 5:27 a.m., when Border Patrol dispatch received a call from the California Highway Patrol regarding an individual in distress that was lost in the mountainous area south of Jacumba, Calif. Border Patrol’s Search Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) and CBP OAM were notified and deployed a team to the area. After a systematic search of the last reported location, a helicopter from CBP OAM found the man at approximately 8 a.m. Agents rendered medical attention and determined that the man appeared to be in a good physical condition and did not require further medical care.

The 28-year-old man was determined to be a Mexican citizen illegally present in the United States and was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol station for processing and further evaluation.
