Boston - On Feb. 9, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Logan International Airport seized approximately 8.9 kilograms of cocaine that was discovered on a JetBlue flight that originated in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The cocaine was concealed inside an unclaimed suitcase and stowed with the rest of the checked luggage in the cargo hold.
Perhaps the TSA was too busy shaking down grannies and small children to search the luggage.

TSA - Dominican airport "safest in Caribbean"

Las Américas International Airport.- The United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has described Santo Domingo's Las Américas airport as the leader as far as airport security in the Caribbean region is concerned, during a meeting of Dominican airport authority (Aerodom) and the Special Airport Security Corps (CESA).

The TSA starting conducting security inspections after the September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in the United States.

TSA Representatives Victor Guardia, George L. Perez and Anthony Tranumm, who provided advice and carried out inspections at AILA, expressed their satisfaction with the improvements and the changes implemented by Aerodom in the management of the country’s main airport, which serves the capital city and the surrounding area.

“I am very impressed and satisfied with what we have seen: improvement, changes…” said Guardia, who represents the TSA for Central America, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.
