CBP Seizes Nearly $26k in Undeclared Currency at BWI

Baltimore – A Nigerian traveler surrendered nearly $26,000 to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport yesterday after he consistently evaded complying with federal currency reporting requirements.

The traveler, whose name is withheld because he was not arrested, reported a little more than $15,000, but failed to report an additional $10,000 packed in his luggage after CBP officers repeatedly offered him chances to amend his currency declaration.

CBP officers seized a total of $25,916 and released him.
