New censorship or other reason?
Never encountered this before--no names of suspects given and face in picture is blurred out.

A preliminary hearing continues Wednesday for three gang-members accused of gunning down an Oceanside police officer.
A judge is expected to rule whether there's enough evidence to charge the suspects with murder. If the case goes to trial, they could face life in prison without parole.
Twenty-five-year-old Dan Bessant was killed while helping another officer with a traffic stop in 2006.
The preliminary hearing began Tuesday.

Hey, you don't suppose it could be . . . ???
To keep the Mexican consulate off their backs?
It wouldn't do the consul much good this time to make the victim into the criminal, because he's dead.
You know law enforcement has had enough of catch-and-release, especially when it comes to murder. And all the more so when it is the murder of a law enforcement officer. They don't want this catch to be one that got away, when he is likely to come back and make more trouble.
No, I don't know either why his name is suppressed. That's unusual, except in espionage cases where ongoing undercover ops might be compromised. One man's terrorist is another man's undocumented worker.

tomorrow WE may wake up as illegals.

Suspects in Officer's Death in Court Again Friday

Testimony is scheduled to continue Friday in the preliminary hearing of three teenagers accused in the murder of an Oceanside police officer.
Officer Dan Bessant, 25, was gunned down in December 2006.
On Thursday, a former neighbor testified that one of the three teenagers was not present at the time of the shooting.
Santiago Torres said Jose Compre, 17, was not outside his house just before the shooting, but previous witnesses have testified that Compre was there.
The hearing will determine whether there is enough evidence to order Compre, Meki Gaono and Penifoti Taeotui to stand trial for Bessant's murder.
