WASHINGTON - On the heels of a report which says Georgia added about 250,000 immigrants over the last five years, Senator Saxby Chambliss is proposing a bill that would punish certain employers of illegal immigrants.
"It's focused on the agriculture sector only," Chambliss told the Georgia News Network. "We're going to put some sanctions on folks who hire illegal immigrants. By doing that, we're going to eliminate jobs for illegal immigrants coming into this country, and that's one of the ways we think we can stem this flow of illegal immigrants coming in."
Chambliss says the bill would give state and local officials the authority to arrest those who violate immigration laws.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
