Despite concerns from business groups and immigrant advocates about a government Web-based employment verification program, a growing number of local companies are using it.

Since the voluntary program E-Verify was offered to employers in 2004, almost 4,000 Georgia companies and more than 800 businesses in Tennessee have signed up to participate in the federal program, including 50 employers in Chattanooga and 96 in Dalton, Ga.

The E-Verify program is a voluntary, Internet-based program established to allow employers to verify workers’ employment eligibility electronically with the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration.

Since there is such pressure in the next county, Bradley County,TN, for the City of Cleveland,TN and the county itself to use E Verify, SAVE and the 287 g, this writer appears to pander to the critics, those who don't want their illegal alien labor force interrupted.

Their attempts to cloud the truth are not working as more people are requesting these programs and more employers want to protect themselves.

The writer of this article also says that D A King is anti-immigration. They have a pattern of doing this when those against illegal immigration are mentioned.

EMPLOYERS COULD ANNOUNCE IN THEIR JOB ADVERTISEMENT..."WE USE E-VERIFY". THE SAME WAY THAT MANY EMPLOYERS TAG THEIR ADS EOE. AND THEN ILLEGALS PROBABLY WONT APPLY AT THAT COMPANY. THIS WOULD REDUCE THE COST TO EMPLOYERS OF HAVING TO REHIRE.
