Chertoff to border residents: Guard plan isn't unusual
May 18, 2006 04:56 PM
Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff today assured border residents that upcoming deployment of National Guard troops -- isn't unusual.
Chertoff, who was at Fort Bliss, Texas, said National Guard troops sent to the border will function in the same way they have for 20 years.
President Bush this week announced the deployment that's related to illegal immigration and securing the border with Mexico.
Cheroff says Bush's plan is "enhancing or scaling up" operations that have long been a backup for Border Patrol agents.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
