Now if this isn't the poster child for the "worst parent ever"....she's an illegal Mexican woman, who takes her kids back to Mexico for a vist, then makes them cross into the U.S. illegally again via the Rio Grande and one of them drowns....

If she's here, she should be charged with child abuse, reckless/endangerment of a minor and she should be jailed and deported along with the rest of her illegal alein family. Ya es hora.

Missing 16-year-old Immigrant May Have Drowned in Rio Grande

Reported by Ray Pedraza

An illegal immigrant who recently buried her mother in Mexico may now have to bury her son.

Elizabeth Espinosa said her son may have drowned while crossing the Rio Grande near Progreso Sunday night.

Espinosa told Action 4 News that she and her three boys were coming back from her mother's funeral.

She said her youngest son, 16-year-old David Urbina, was latched onto the back of her eldest son when suddenly they both went under.

Espinosa said her son David yelled and yelled, "Mom, save me!" But she replied, "Son, I'm drowning too".

David never resurfaced.

Espinosa said she pleaded with Border Patrol to search the area and was initially told she'd have to wait two to three days. But federal agents were on scene a short while later.

In a circumstance like this, we posed the question to Border Patrol: When do agents decide to conduct a search or call off a search?

Rio Grande Valley sector spokesman Oscar Saldaña said agents responded within hours in this particular instance.

They called in assistance from the Weslaco Fire Department and dragged the river in addition using a helicopter to search by air.

Saldaña said in all rescues, the safety of everyone involved is top priority but the resources and timing of the search depends on the circumstances of each case.

So far, David Urbina has not been found.

If you have any information for Border Patrol agents on the case, you're urged to call them at (800) 863-9382.
