Immigration and worker activists are targeting area Chipotle stores after the restaurant chain abruptly fired 40 workers suspected of being undocumented.

The protesters believe the workers' rights were violated. A few dozen people chanted they weren’t done fighting with Chipotle, but if the protest was small, the issue is huge.

How should a company deal with employees it believes are undocumented?

The workers say Chipotle showed them the door with no notice or explanation. They claim they're owed vacation pay and two weeks severance.

Herlinda Mendoza spoke through an interpreter, quoting the company's slogan: "Where is that integrity of theirs?"

D.C. Council Member Michael Brown says Chipotle can fire workers, but there are standards.

"Once you have hired them then you have an obligation to pay them in full," Brown says.

William Buchanan has little sympathy for the fired workers saying they’re taking jobs from Americans.

"The unemployment rate among blacks in Ward 8 is 50 percent. Now where are these people going to get jobs if not in places like this?" he asks.

Chipotle says it has paid employees what they are owed and is willing to discuss any worker's claims.

maybe you should look in the mirror and ask your self the same question since your the one who was let go which means you were using documents that were not yours, which means your more likely ILLEGALLY in the UNITED STATES

i stand with the illegal immgrant protestors and demand that a lawsuit be brought !!!!

these people have suffered pain and emotinal damage and need to be compensated for the "racist" treatment that they reciveved at the hands of chipolte ....


besides , i LOVE watching companies that hire illegal immgrants get the snot sued out of them by the same illegal immgrants they hired .....

Where's yours &^%$! Since you stole that job with fradulent documentation, they don't owe you squat! Get out of my country!

I worked all thru college in restaurants, they NEVER give severance pay. Typical the illegals are demanding more than the law requires ( I'm not even gonna go into why they are protected in the first place)!

Want to get back at Chipotle quit eating at their establishments.They start loosing money they will get the message that we are not gonna take it anymore.

Why do illegals think they're entitled to "severance pay" when legal USC and resident workers aren't?

If your illegal then you have no rights other than the one to deport your criminal butt out of the country. Consider the severance pay as payment to the USA for theft of job, illegal entry and all the social services you leached off of the taxpayers.
