This Central American crisis is just a joke:

1. Unemployment is a big driver of people fleeing their homes. This is being caused by imports from China displacing local goods and flooding the markets, especially clothing and textiles.
2. The US DOJ National Gang Center offers training to police forces of other countries to help them control gangs. See:https://www.nationalgangcenter.gov/T...cal-Assistance
3. It costs a lot of money to smuggle people to the United States. Coyotes demand more, corrupt law enforcement demands more. The currencies are falling as the US dollar strengthens. The $5-10,000 they spend for just one person could be seed capital to start a business. However, their US originated remittances do go further, The Mexico peso has weaken from 11 to the dollar to 19.
4. Private agencies offer material assistance. Governments have improvement programs. Even companiess like CEMEX provide homebuilding programs.
5. These people can legally own weapons to protect themselves. Of course gangs will harass you when you have no protection. Why would full grown, mature adults be afraid of a teen age gang member anyway? That doesn't make sense.

What is really going on is that instead of these families putting their heads together to come up with a survival strategy they just come to the US to get our benefits and valuable dollars to send back. Enough!!!
