LAWRENCEVILLE – The Gwinnett County Commission heard public comment on Tuesday night about an inmate screening program at the county jail that discovered 900 illegal immigrants.

Gwinnett recently underwent a month-long test of the 287(g) program, which is also operational in Hall County and more than 30 agencies nationwide.

At Tuesday night’s meeting, the dozens in attendance were split over whether the program should be continued.
