    I like the comment posted.........

"To use her own logic - If there is no illegal immigrant problem, if all these folks are here legally, than when asked, they can just show that they are citizens. I am a pround citizen of this country and would not have a problem proving it."

    That is frightening.

We live in a very small town. There are some illegals here - mostly on the ranches and dairies outside of town - a few live in town. There are more coming, but still nothing at all like a lot of small towns in Texas.

We have maybe 3 American families of hispanic descent here in this town, maybe with extended families.

I'm just trying to say our percentage of hispanics is very, very small and our percentage of American hispanics is miniscule.

    The population is 3K.

Yet, we have 3 registered child molestors, with hispanic surnames.

I am just wondering if the government is hiding them out here after they do their time.

The committee has no enforcement authority, but Chavez says it might issue a report

By law each state has to have a sex-offender registry and there is also a federal one. The law was not retroactive so sex-offenders found guilty before a certain date are not included nor are those who pled guilty to a lesser charge.

You can find your state list on the internet using state name and sex offender registry. The sheriff's office in your county is required to also provide a list to those who go and inquire.

Some states graded sex offenders on how likely they are to offend again--after the kidnapping and murder of Dru Sjodin in Grand Forks, North Dakota by Alfonso Rodriguez Jr, a registered sex offender from Minnesota some states dropped the grading system---I imagine to protect the state from liability........they knowingly release an offender who is at high risk of committing the crime again.

Sex Offender Registry Information - Registration and Community Notification

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In accordance with Megan's Law and The Jacob Wetterling Act, all 50 states are required to register sex offenders and perform community notification. However, each state differs in terms of how it administers its community notification process, what offenders are required to register, the duration of registration, what information is registered, how the information is shared, whether the public has access to the registry, who is granted access, methods of access, what information is shared - and that's just for starters.

Depending on the state, you may be able to obtain information from your state, city or county online registry, police department, sheriff's office, phone hotline or another agency in order to obtain information on specific offenders, information on all offenders in the state or a specific geographic location or you may be able to search the entire registry or part of it on such criteria as an offense type, physical characteristics, name, zip code and age.
