ShareThisBOULDER, Colo. — After losing contracts to clean several city buildings, including the Boulder Public Library, a janitorial company is suing two competitors, alleging they were able to give lower bids because they hired undocumented workers.

Boulder-based Dustbusters filed the suit last week against Longmont’s Finishing Touch Janitorial Services and Loveland’s Porter Industries.

Both defendants underbid Dustbusters on several city contracts, and were hired to do thousands of dollars of work in libraries, parks and other buildings, according to the suit.

In the case of the library, which Dustbusters had cleaned since 1993, Finishing Touch won the contract for 2008, agreeing to clean all city libraries for $117,168 — almost $21,000 less than Dustbusters’ bid.
