Immigration plays role in GOP’s Ohio win

Immigration plays role in GOP’s Ohio win
    Josh Kraushaar

When Rep.-elect Bob Latta (R-Ohio) found himself neck and neck with his Democratic opponent, Robin Weirauch, in internal polling, his campaign turned to what has become a reliable staple for Republicans lately: talking tough on illegal immigration.

Latta’s campaign aired an ad proclaiming his opposition to amnesty and driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants and threatening to cut foreign aid to countries that encourage illegal immigration into the country.

And both Latta and the National Republican Congressional Committee followed suit by accusing Weirauch of supporting government-subsidized health care for illegal immigrants.

“She supports a government-run health care plan that covers illegal immigrants by raising taxes on your hard-earned dollars. And a pathway to citizenship. … Feeling more secure yet?â€

    Congrads to Ohio

A state where hundreds of thousands of jobs have been lost doesn't need illegal immigrants.

My town council is now majority repub in a very heavy dem county. Illegals just began arriving about 3 yrs ago in my town and I see their numbers grow. Illegal housing is being inspected and I anticipate citations for numerous violations. My neighbor told me last year that immigration raided a light industry area nearby and made arrests. I was unable to confirm as the regional newspaper has become slanted toward illegals and often omits reports about raids and crime by illegals and stopped stating immigration status of criminal arrests.

My letter to the editor was published. I highlighted the out of control border and visa overstayers and the need for greater enforcement. We do have a legal immigration system here in the US and foreigners must be taught to use it or pay the consequences such as deportation.
