CO: Checks for illegal immigrants begins at three jails

Checks for illegal immigrants begins at three jails

    Denver Post
    February 16, 2011

Fingerprints of inmates booked into three jails in Colorado now are forwarded electronically to federal databases, and the information sent back can lead to deportations of illegal immigrants.

The federal Secure Communities program kicked off Tuesday in Arapahoe and El Paso counties, as well as in Denver, according to the Colorado Department of Public Safety.

In January, Gov. Bill Ritter approved Colorado's participation in the program.

Colorado joins at least 35 other states in the measure.

As part of the program, jailers receive immigration status information within two hours of submitting fingerprints to federal databases.

Although this may sound good.....when these people are deported,,,,,,,they beat the bus back into America. Why can't they be given a long prison sentence. They are breaking the law!!!
