A three-month effort to hamper the Gangster Disciples street gang in Colorado Springs netted the arrests of two men and led to the seizure of guns, drugs and money.

The arrests were made June 15 but weren't announced until today. Eight other suspects are being sought, police said. The FBI and ATF assisted in the probe.

Authorities found $28,000 worth of powder cocaine, about $5,000 worth of "crack" cocaine, 12 guns, a bullet-resistant vest and about $21,000 in cash, according to a written news release.

Gabriel Holguin Fierro, 33, and Jose Luis Holguin, 24, were arrested on suspicion of drug distribution. They are being held in the El Paso County jail on an immigration hold placed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Authorities were preparing arrest warrants for the other suspects.
