Coalition seeks probe of Border Patrol in state
Coalition seeks probe of Border Patrol in state
Seattle Times
By The Associated Press
A coalition of 21 civil-liberties, immigrant-rights and labor groups has sent a letter to Washington state's congressional delegation urging them to look at U.S. Border Patrol operations, saying that agents routinely profile immigrants and use interpretation as a pretext to make arrests.
A coalition of 21 civil-liberties, immigrant-rights and labor groups has written to Washington state's congressional delegation urging them to look at U.S. Border Patrol operations, saying that agents routinely profile immigrants and use interpretation as a pretext to make arrests.
The letter is the latest in ongoing tensions between the agency and these groups, which include the American Civil Liberties Union.
In the past few years, the Border Patrol has increased manpower in Washington by a few hundred agents and stepped up operations, such as inspections of buses and ferries. Even so, arrests of illegal immigrants have fallen since 2001 from about 2,000 to just below 700.
Border Patrol has argued it's conducting its job of enforcing the nation's immigration law and welcomes input from the community.
The letter points to the arrest of a South Korean immigrant at a farmers market in Port Angeles in which agents didn't question anyone else on their immigration status. Border Patrol says it was acting on a tip from a concerned citizen.

This 'letter' will wind up on the desks of LaRaza supporters such as the US Secretary of Labor.
This thing is greased from the top down, and STACKED against the United States Border Patrol's efforts to adequately repel illegal aliens from Mexico and tie their hands.
Border Patrol agents fear for their jobs every single time they interdict an illegal alien from Mexico. They know they have little to defend them within their own government for doing the jobs they were hired to do.

These PACs are working feverishly for amnesty and will do everything they can to demonize our US Border Patrol, and anyone else resisting amnesty.
