I never saw this in the Phoenix Newspaper/Why?

Phoenix "Protect Our City" Initiative Turns in Signatures
Randy Pullen, head of Protect Our City turned in over 21,000 signatures at Phoenix City Hall on Thursday, moving into the next phase of his Phoenix initiative; Protect Our City, which will sweep away the city’s sanctuary and non-cooperation policy and mandate that city government work with the federal government in the critical area of immigration enforcement.

Pullen, Chairman of the highly popular and successful Yes on 200 campaign in 2004, a statewide initiative that called for the withholding of taxpayer funded benefits from illegal aliens, believes that local enforcement of immigration laws is the next phase of the national immigration reform movement. Cities and local jurisdictions will have to take responsibility for cleaning up the mess that has resulted from the federal government’s negligence in not securing the border or enforcing immigration laws.

A combination of volunteer and paid petitioners gathered the more than 21,000 signatures. The number required to qualify for the ballot is 14,844. Whether the initiative is placed on the November ballot, or in March of 2007 depends on the City Council and the timing and outcome of predicted legal challenges.

Pullen explained that one big advantage of a March election, where POC would likely be the only issue on the ballot, would be that all the city council and mayoral candidates who are standing for re-election in the fall of 2007 would have to take a position on the controversial issue. Pullen also suggested that a similar ballot initiative might be on the near term agenda for Tucson, Arizona’s second largest city. -- Rick Oltman, Western Field Director for FAIR

Illegal aliens remain exempt from American laws, while they DEMAND American rights...
